PATEK PHILIPPE quarter repeating pocket watch, delivered to Musy Father and Sons, jeweller to the court in Turin, circa 1905. 18k gold case, dimensions 49mm, the back side with polychrome enamelled coat of arms with crown and motto: "IL FAVT VOIRE FRANGAR NON FLECTAR" ("You have to see - I am broken, I am not deflected"), gold dome with signature: "MUSY PADRE E FIGLI, TORINO", slide for repeating mechanism. Enamel dial, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds with radial red Arabic numerals, signed, blued spade hands. Bridge movement, rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, signed, 2 hammers / 2 gongs, gold screw compensation balance, index spring fine adjusting device, counterpoised lever. Signed Dial, case and movement. Box, certificate of origin, spare glass, spare springs.
Carlo Compans di Brichanteau (1845-1925) was a marquis, had a military career as well as a political one, a sports club leader, member of the national and was the first president of the Italian Olympic committee. He was also president of a construction committee that financed the first ever made stadium in Turin that was the largest in the world at the time.
